Change to spelling tests

on January 4, 2011

Now that we have entered January and the second period of the year is in full swing…I would like to announce a small change to our spelling tests.

Students are still required to write their spelling sentences in cursive. The change is with the spelling tests themselves. The students will now write their spelling tests in cursive and in print. They will receive two separate scores.  A spelling score as always, and now a handwriting/cursive score for correctly forming all of their letters.

They have the option of just writing in cursive on the test, however incorrect formation of letters will count as misspellings. Therefore, they will have the option of writing in cursive and in print to guarantee a good spelling grade. The choice is theirs. If they feel confident in their cursive, writing the words once will suffice.
