Laptops in the Classroom

We use technology A LOT in my classroom!! When I was a student, I wrote a paper on what the “classroom of the future” would look like. I wrote about a paperless classroom where every student had a computer at their desk.

It is so cool to have my dream realized in my very own classroom. Isn’t technology awesome!!!

Check out the pictures on the Photo Gallery page.

While celebrating Constitution Day this past September, we learned all about the preamble of the United States Constitution. The students worked in groups and illustrated what each phrase represented for them.

Enjoy the show!!

Time is running out…

This is mostly directed to my old students and their parents.

I have been using a photo uploading site called Bubbleshare for the pictures on my blog.  As of November 15th they are no longer in business.

If you have any pictures on the 2008-2009 page that you are interested in getting a copy of, please let me know. They will be deleted in less than a month.

What a busy month we have in store for us…

October is going to go by so very quickly!! We have a lot to do.

We have our second math test on Friday. It will cover both addition and subtraction. Our next unit will be an introduction to multiplication and division.

Next week we have our first science test on Chapter 1 from our Life Science section of our text. Be sure to check out the study guide that has been posted on the blog for a few weeks now.

Tuesday 10/20 we have our first field trip. It is a virtual field trip to the Smithsonian Art Museum. You may be wondering what that means. 🙂 We will travel to High School East and have a video conference with a specialist to kick off our Native American unit.

Thursday 10/22 is our 1st science day. Students will circulate through three hands-on stations to continue our exploration of plants. Students are invited to dress like a scientist if they would like.

We will take a practice ELA test to gage where each student is with their reading comprehension skills. This is one of the tools that I will use to help guide my instruction.

Lastly, on Friday 10/30 Tackan will have a Halloween/Literature parade at 10:15 in the front circle. You are invited to come and view the students as they walk around in their costumes.

Feel free to check out the agenda page to see our class calendar to see even more up-coming events.

Student Council Representatives

First, I want to compliment the 13 students who presented a speech to the class and ran for our 2 student council representative spots. It was evident that a lot of thought and time was put into your speeches. Great work!!

I would like to officially congratulate Lyndsey and Nicholas for being elected. I would also like to congratulate Michael for being elected as our alternate representative.

Have a super weekend!!
