A window into our classroom!

Volunteers Needed

On Wednesday, March 7th Benner’s Farm will be visiting the Tackan fourth graders for a fun and educational Colonial Times program to go along with our Social Studies unit.

Our class will be participating in Colonial Stations to learn first-hand about the time period. We could use some extra hands for these fun activities.

I you are interested and available from 10:40-11:40 we are in need of 3 parent volunteers. Please write me a comment on here, email me at sspata@smithtown.k12.ny.us, or write me a note. I will fill the slots on a first come first serve basis.

Thank you in advance for your support of this fun day for your child!

The Publisist Report

Yesterday at science we watched a really cool video. It was the magic tree house!!!!! I really, really liked it. The show was about decomposers. Decomposers are lazy animals that wait for there preys to die. Also today we had a super duper snack. Skyler brought in pastels. No not the art supplies the Brazilian food that’s a snack covered with bread and in the middle yummy cheese. It was white cheese, yum !

Essay Reaction of Students

Today Mrs. Spata handed out essay papers.  If we entered and won the essay contest we would go to theLong Islandessay contest and win 250 dollars.  If we won theLong Islandessay contest we would be able to be recorded on the radio of what our essay sounds like.  If we won everything the total of the money would be 600 dollars.  When Mrs. Spata finished announcing what can happen, almost everybody got up and grabbed a sheet of paper.  For the essay, the topic is “School Changes My World…”  I hope that we all get good luck on the essay.  Happy writing.

Week in Review

Hello.  Today was the last day of Marisa’s Melting Pot.  She brought in dumplings with soy sauce.  Yummy! Did you know that her father made them and they have been the family recipe for many years.  Everybody inhaled them.  Marisa gave out seconds so everybody got four little dumplings.  Marisa was very happy that she pleased the class with her melting pot.  I hope that the next melting pot is fun like this one was and I bet it will be!

Bottle Cap Collection

I am very proud of the student in my class this year and their wanting to make a difference in their community!!!

Read bellow to see their newest endeavor.

:O) Mrs. Spata

This year we are doing a wonderful deed to make another persons life much easier.  Our class and the fourth grade AND our whole school is collecting bottle caps.  We are collecting bottle caps because a student’s mom in our class works with somebody and the person she is working with, her daughter has cancer.  So every 1,000 bottle caps we get, the daughter gets a free treatment that can really help her fight the disease. We all hope that she can get better and fight the cancer.
