Mrs. Spata’s Fourth Grade Blog

A window into our classroom!

Have a happy and safe weekend!

Have a happy and safe weekend everyone!!! Be careful and be smart!!

I took pictues during our Literature Parade this morning and our bagel party…however I brought the wrong cord to plug my camera into the computer. I will upload them next week. Sorry!

We have our Topic 3&4 math test on Wednesday. Some of my students did not finish the practice test online on Pearson. If you take this practice test the computer will score it and assign lessons/videos/worksheets to practice the types of questions you completed incorrectly. I STRONGLY suggest that you use this weekend and your day off on Tuesday to try this test and study for the math test.

PS You should also have started studying for the Native American test coming up on the 24th. Study guide has been up for a bunch of weeks now. This is a very in depth and long unit of study.

Native American Day

Fourth Grade culminates our month long Native American unit with a Native American Day. This year it will take place on Tuesday, November 23rd.

All students are invited to dress the part of a Native American if they would like. We will rotate through several fun and educational stations to participate in true Native American activities. Our day will culminate with a Pow Wow where we will share legends that we wrote on bear skin.

Each class  needs 5 parent volunteers to help support these activities. You will rotate with your children through the stations and lend a helping hand in each one.

If you are interested and available from 9:30-12:15 on Tuesdsay, November 23rd. Please contact me as soon as possible. I will fill the slots on a first come first serve basis. You can respond to this post, email me, or write me a note.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Halloween

Literature parade will take place at 9:45 on Friday, October 29th.

Students are invited to wear school appropriate costumes. No face paint, masks, or weapons of any kind are permitted. It is ok to wear parts of your costume to school (safe to walk in) and then once in school they can change into the rest of their costume. If you would like to come and watch…we will be walking around the bus loop a few times.  All students MUST change out of their costumes when the parade is over. Don’t forget to bring a change of clothes.

Afterwards we will have a special bagel breakfast party. We could use a few families to donate juice for our party. If you would like to send in a special snack for us to enjoy, please let me know. All food must be pre approved by me.

Thoughts about the extra credit

I am very disappointed that only 9 out of 24 students took advantage of the extra credit option for tomorrow’s science test!!!

I am shocked that more did not use the VERY easy chance to add 10 points to their test score!

I hope that you are all studying very hard and are ready to ace tomorrow’s test…because 10 points can make a huge difference!
